About DeStock

DeStock is an independent, unofficial Android browser for archival footage indexed by Destockd.

Information Stored on Device

DeStock stores recent searches and saved or favorite shots on the user's device so the app can show search history and a local research shelf. This information is stored in the app's local database.

The app manifest disables Android backup for this local database. If a user clears app data or uninstalls DeStock, locally stored recent searches and saved shots are removed from that device.

Information Sent Off Device

DeStock needs internet access to browse and play archive material. When a user searches, the search query is sent to Destockd. When the app loads keyframes, previews, full clips, film details, collections, or source links, requests may be sent to Destockd, its media CDN, Archive.org, the National Archives, or other archive or source hosts returned by Destockd.

These requests can include technical information normally sent with internet traffic, such as IP address, device or network metadata, request time, requested URLs, and user agent or client details. DeStock does not control the retention, logging, or processing practices of Destockd, its CDN, Archive.org, the National Archives, or other third-party source hosts.

How Information Is Used

DeStock uses local recent searches and saved shots to provide app features requested by the user. Network requests are used to return search results, load thumbnails or keyframes, stream previews or clips, and open source material.

DeStock does not provide accounts, cloud sync, user uploads, in-app purchases, advertising, or analytics tracking.

Security

The app requires secure network traffic and does not permit cleartext HTTP traffic in its Android manifest. Third-party services are responsible for their own infrastructure and retention practices.

Retention and Deletion

Local recent searches and saved shots remain on the device until the user removes them, clears app data, or uninstalls the app.

Search queries and media or source requests sent to third parties may be retained by those third parties according to their own policies. The publisher should confirm those practices before making final store declarations.

External Links

DeStock may open external websites such as Destockd, Archive.org, the National Archives, or other source pages. Those websites are not operated by DeStock and have their own privacy practices.

Children

DeStock is not designed for children. Archival and research footage may include historical events, war imagery, weapons, or other mature material. The publisher should target the app to adults unless a full catalog and policy review supports a different decision.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when DeStock's features, data practices, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date will be updated when material changes are made.
